A fishing village, a city founded by the sea and shaped by it. Monopoli is by the sea. A wide white square where the houses in the historic center are lime-washed, many still home to fishermen. And then churches, narrow alleys and squares, noble palaces from the 18th century or the Murat period.
North Monopoli
An area stretching from Torre Incina to the city’s harbor, it’s well worth a visit for the small treasures found along its four kilometers secluded caves and beaches. Torre Incina is one of the six 16th-century watchtowers that have survived in the land of Bari.
South Monopoli
The coast between Monopoli’s Old Port and the entrance to the Capitolo area is dotted with 19 beautiful sandy coves alternating with high cliffs, allowing access to green or blue waters. Many of these beaches are hidden.
